New Tecumseth has always been home.
Born and raised in Beeton. Twenty-five years as a local Realtor. A grandmother watching another generation grow up here.
I was born and raised in Beeton. I went to Banting Memorial High School, met my husband Scott when we were young, and this is where we chose to build our life and raise our three daughters.
Today, we're grandparents, and I'm watching another generation of our family grow up here. That gives you a different perspective on change. I remember what New Tecumseth was, I see what it is today, and I care very much about what we're leaving behind for the people coming after us.
My path hasn't exactly been a straight line. I studied Parks and Recreation Management at Seneca College and worked at Earl Rowe Provincial Park, the Town pool, as a Conservation Officer with Metro Toronto, at Honda and Baxter Labs before eventually finding my way into real estate.
I've been a local Realtor and Broker for 25 years. That career has put me at kitchen tables with people during some of the biggest decisions of their lives. I've watched neighbourhoods appear where there were once fields. I've watched housing become harder for young families to afford. I've seen our population grow and the pressure that growth puts on roads, services and infrastructure.
But real estate isn't the reason I'm running. Life is.
I've raised a family here. I've owned businesses here. I've watched my parents grow older here. I've volunteered here. I've seen our community change, and I've experienced firsthand how important accessibility and independence can be for a family.
I've also learned that you don't have to know everything to be useful. You need to be willing to listen, ask questions, find the information and sometimes say, "I don't know yet, but I'll find out."
That's the kind of councillor I want to be.
I'm not running because I think New Tecumseth should stop changing. It can't. I think we have a responsibility to guide that change well.
When thousands of new homes are planned, I want to know where the water is coming from, whether our wastewater system can handle it, what happens to traffic, what infrastructure has to be built and who is paying for it.
When we're considering a $40-million-plus recreation project, I want to understand what residents need, what we can afford and whether we're making the best long-term decision.
And when someone comes to Council because something happening on their street matters to them, I want them to feel like somebody actually listened.
That's really why I'm doing this. Not because I have all the answers. Because I care enough to ask the questions.
More time to listen. More time for you.
What I believe
Listening First
You don't have to know everything to be useful. You need to be willing to listen, ask questions and find the information.
Guiding Change Well
New Tecumseth can't stop changing — and shouldn't. But we have a responsibility to make sure growth serves the people who already live here.
Accountability
When someone comes to Council because something on their street matters to them, they should feel like somebody actually listened.
